Destinations >> Coastal Lowlands :> Coastal Lowlands - Mui Ne Mui Ne is one of the most beautiful coastal areas in Vietnam with a long sandy palm-tree flanked beaches that stretch for miles along the South China Sea. Only 200km from Ho Chi Minh City and 12 km from Phan Thiet Town, tourism has transformed Mui Ne into a resort destination since 1995, when many visited to view the total solar eclipse of October 24, 1995. Mui Ne owns the finest weather in Vietnam. Mui Ne has the lowest annual rainfall in the entire country and an average temperature of 27°C. As in the rest of South Vietnam, there are two seasons: the rainy season from May to October with south-westerly winds, and the dry season from November to April with north-easterly winds. The fishing industry is still the most important economy factor of the province. The fishing harbours of Mui Ne with thousands of colourful traditional fishing boats are definitely worth seeing. Mui Ne is one of the best kept secrets in the tourism industry in Vietnam. Mui Ne offers the strech of more than 16km of pristine white sand beaches, bordered with coconut trees, one of the less spoiled beaches in Southeast Asia. If you are looking for a place to relax away from the noisy and polluted cities, this may be the place for you. Besides fine sand beaches, the key attraction of Mui Ne beach are its sand dunes that impress all visitors. Most of the sand dunes can be found snaking along Mui Ne’s curvy beaches next to its beachfront road. Each of them is unique and often transformed in different shapes due to the wind. It is a great pleasure to stroll up and down the ridges of sand dunes in the morning or late afternoon. Local children will lease their plastic boards to visitors who wish to try some sand skiing. Mui Ne has some the top resorts in the country yet it is still accessible to the budget traveller. If you are looking for something entirely unique yet affordable in Vietnam, and need a break from war monuments, hectic city streets and flocks of tourists, come to visit Mui Ne, its virgin beach and pristine sand dunes.
